Sustainability

The Strategies Sustainability Project provides specialized capacity-building coaching and training to family and community strengthening organizations. Active participation in the Sustainability Project enables programs to enhance their capacity to help families and communities become healthier and stronger.

Over the course of the Sustainability Project, your organization will receive individualized onsite coaching, peer-to-peer networking and support, professional assessments and tools, and specialized trainings and resources for long-term sustainability.

Extensive research demonstrates that funding, while a primary concern, is only one item ensuring sustainability of agencies and their programs. The Sustainability Project integrates the following equally important critical elements of sustainability into a dynamic capacity building model:

  • A compelling vision and clear goals
  • Diversified human and financial resources
  • Positive relationships with a broad-based network
  • Results-based program performance
  • Effective and supportive management and organizational systems
  • The ability to successfully adapt to changing internal and external influences

Underscoring all sustainability elements is the ground-breaking theory of Emotional Intelligence.  Research indicates that only 7% of leadership success is attributable to intellect; 93% of leadership success comes from trust, integrity, authenticity, honesty, creativity, presence and resilience (Cooper and Sawaf, 1996). Throughout the course of the Sustainability Project, leaders and staff will develop skills to increase their emotional intelligence, thereby recognizing their emotional effect on others, and using this intelligence to better inspire and effectively guide others.
