Peer Review
Partnering Together with Family Resource Centers and Family Strengthening Organizations to Share Ideas and Strengths
Strategies Would Like to Facilitate the Peer Review Process with YOU!
We’re looking for family resource centers (or other family strengthening organizations) in California to participate in this unique opportunity to improve your programs, service delivery, and organizations.
What is Peer Review?
Strategies will pair you and your team in a cooperative, non-judgmental peer sharing relationship with another team. This is an opportunity for your center to learn and share ideas and strategies with another agency that provides similar programs and services.
Your team (director, program staff, parents, and board members or volunteers) will complete a self-assessment of your center in the following areas:
- Parent/Resident Involvement
- Community Involvement
- Family Strengthening
- Collaborative Activity
- Personnel/Staffing
- Volunteerism
- Cultural Considerations
- Program/Service Design
- Statewide/Regional Network
- Customer Service
- Sustainability
Why Should Your Organization Participate in Peer Review?
There are many benefits to participating in a peer review process.
Peer Review:
- Gives you an outside perspective on what your center is doing well and in which areas your center could improve.
- Allows time for your team to reflect on your center’s strengths and challenges.
- Enables you and another center to learn from one another, develop new relationships, and share ideas for overcoming challenges.
- Provides you with tools to make your strengths and needs known to your community, your board, and funders.
- Helps establish stronger networks.
- Serves as one method of quality assurance for the programs and services your center delivers.
- Becomes a foundation on which you can develop or update your strategic plan.
- Identifies areas for program and staff development.
- Gives you a self-assessment you can use annually to track your changes and progress.
- Provides valuable information for inclusion in strategic planning for programmatic development, agency advancement and sustainability.
Are There Any Other Incentives?
Yes! Parents/community members/youth will receive honorariums for their participation for attending the preparation training, partner site visit, and follow-up session. Some travel costs such as mileage to and from site visits as well as lunch provided by the host sites during those visits are reimbursable.
