Mission Statements

A mission statement is a broad, usually brief description of

  • What populations you seek to serve
  • What problems, concerns or opportunities you seek to address
  • What you want to achieve in the long run

Your mission statement

  • Provides the definitive purpose of your organization to the rest of the world
  • Is the point of reference around which your board, staff and volunteers develop common understandings of the organization's reason for being, its work and its style
  • Is the touchstone from which all planning proceeds and to which all evaluation returns
  • Does not change frequently, but may be changed if the community needs and conditions change

On this page, you will find examples of mission statements from FRCs and other family strengthening organizations.

If you would like to add mission statements to our document bank, you may email them to ccasparie@youth4change.org.

Please be sure that submission of documents for inclusion on this page does not violate the copyright of any person or entity and that your agency's internal policies will allow you to redistribute your mission statement in this way.
